On January 20, the people of South Florida will join the thousands of others across the country who stand against the Trump agenda. Signs, chants, speakers list, banner all must be made for the big protest! POWIR is hosting this work meeting to help get all these things done.

Public meeting with Mayor Levy to discuss the city’s action plan for removing the names Forrest, Lee and Hood from all street signs in Hollywood.

These names are shameful tributes to men who supported slavery during the Civil War and were known white supremacists. 

For over a decade Hollywood’s African American citizens have pleaded with the city elected officials to take action. There is no reason for those names to be on our streets today.

Join the #blacklivesmatter delegation at Fort Lauderdale’s annual MLK Day parade. Lineup for parade begins at 8 am at Lincoln Park, set to start moving at 9:30 am. We will be reminding our community of those black lives lost the last few years at the hands of the police, and the work that still needs to be done in 2017.
